YOKOSUKA, JAPAN – Students at the Sullivans School in Yokosuka, Japan celebrated Read Across America week with a variety of multiple intelligence events March 3-7, 2025.

Students attended a "Myself as a Reader" presentation and created self-portraits to share how they felt about reading. The portraits were collected and made into a school mural to display. Later in the week, students from the Japanese Honor Society at Kinnick High School visited and performed Kamishibai, the Japanese art of storytelling using only pictures.

The week finished off with “Books and Breezes,” a schoolwide reading event featuring special guest readers including the base librarian and sailors from the George Washington.
